(April 21st, 2015, Shanghai) On April 18th, 2015, Shawn Xiao, Vice President of Hilong and General Manager of Hilong Petroleum Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd., and Geng Tao, Vice General Manager of Hilong Petroleum Offshore Engineering Co., Ltd. were conferred the “2014 Oceanic Engineering Science & Technology Award” (First Class) by the State Oceanic Administration and China Association of Oceanic Engineering in Beijing for the deep sea pipe-laying derrick barge - Offshore Oil 201 Vessel project.
The deep sea pipe-laying derrick barge - Offshore Oil 201 is the first DP-3 offshore engineering vessel in the world that comes with both 4,000-ton lifting capacity and 3,000-meter deep water pipe-laying capacity. This vessel is an integration of innovations, incorporating a lot of world-class equipment and technology. It leads the world among the same type of engineering vessels in terms of its overall technical level and comprehensive capacity of operation.
As the Project General Manager at the construction stage of this project, Shawn Xiao was fully engaged in the project management work for the whole process from the design, procurement, building, adjusting and testing of the vessel to its delivery. Geng Tao, Project General Manager of the vessel owner’s vessel receiving project team, successfully finished the vessel inspection and acceptance and trial pipe-laying work, and successfully completed the vessel’s first deep water offshore (maximum water depth of 1,450 meters) pipe-laying project in the South China Sea under his leadership.
